THE HOUR CHALLENGE - Favourite characters;
1/? - Freddie Lyon
Because you’re tenacious. Because you care more about the truth than you do about your own safety. Because if I was scared for my life, I would run to you, and trust that you would know the answer. Because there’s no-one else like you, Freddie.
There are life’s natural heroes, and then there’s you.
((I don’t know what this is.))
Hector goes to fight; of course he does, and it’s at that moment that Freddie decides he’s not going alone, only when he says this to Bel, she looks at him like he’s stupid and talks like there was never a question of Freddie not reporting on this war. So they go together and not together Hector with the rest of the men and Freddie with another reporter, a big blond man with scars up and down his arms, and Hector wields a gun like he always has, and Freddie wields a pen like he always does and they both know that back home, Bel is wielding the show like a weapon, like she always has, like they always did together, and they make the war visible, they make the war human, because Bel was always good at making things human, even the soldier turned newsreader turned soldier with PTSD and a drinking problem and so much anger it seeps from his pores, even the scrawny reporter with chains tattooed on his wrists and wings tattooed on his back, half mad with determination and fury.
So they fight and fight and fight, all three of them fighting for the same thing, and Hector comes home, and Freddie comes home, and Bel is waiting for them, like she always knew she would be, like she always will, and all three of them know it.
